About the book
Atkinson's law of attraction, written while the phrase was new and the governing metaphor was radio: thought as a wave that finds its own frequency. Practical, faintly mechanical, and refreshingly free of promises about parking spaces.

People in Atkinson's circle liked to say “Thoughts are Things,” and he complained that most of them said it the way you repeat a proverb: without hearing it.
He meant it literally. When you think, he writes, you send out vibrations of a fine ethereal substance, as real as light or heat, only at a far higher rate. You cannot see, hear, weigh or taste them, and he does not think that settles anything.
His favorite comparison is the magnet. A strong one will draw a hundred pounds of steel to itself, and not one of your five senses registers the force doing it. For Atkinson, invisible has never meant absent.
