About the book
The little rulebook of the path, «written down» by Mabel Collins: kill out ambition, work as those work who are ambitious — paradox after paradox, each with its commentary. Bound here with Through the Gates of Gold, its strange meditation on pleasure and pain.

Look at who the book says it is for. Not scholars, not the already initiated, but "those who are ignorant of the Eastern wisdom", and only those among them who "desire to enter within its influence".
That second phrase does a lot of quiet work. It does not promise to explain a doctrine or survey a tradition. It offers a place to stand inside. You do not read an influence the way you read a report; you let it act on you and watch what changes.
So the first thing to adjust is your own posture. If you open Light on the Path hoping to extract its main points and close it, you will get very little. It was written for the person who wants to be changed, and it quietly assumes that is why you picked it up.
